PoBoy

Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen-Aloma Avenue Winter Park.

One of our most favorite comfort foods are Maw’s Fries on the menu at Tibby’s, (you will find them in the “Starters” section), so when we heard they had added a Po’Boy version, we just had to try it.

The original Maw’s Fries, described as Medium cut Fries smothered with Roast Beef “debris” Gravy and loaded with Cheese are a sort of Poutine on “Steroids”.  The French Fry & Debris Po’Boy is much the same but with the addition of pickle, lettuce and tomato, served in a soft bread loaf. This was the original Po Boy sandwich created in 1929 and it sure does stand the test of time.

Hint, ask for lots of napkins it will get messy!!

Many other N’awlins style classics can be found on the menu. Muffuletta, Gumbo, Fried Oysters, Po’boys, Catfish, Crawfish and Etouffee and all at a great price point.

No trip to Tibby’s for us is complete without the BBQ Shrimp, described as Large Shrimp sautéed in butter, beer and spices it’s served with a whole French Loaf and you certainly need it for mopping up the delicious cooking sauce. The dish is simple but excellent, with just the right amount of heat to compliment the succulent prawns.

As we were in a “Virtual New Orleans “of course Beignets followed a brief rest to let all this food subside, but more of that later.
