Server of the Year 2016.
In our recent review of 2016 and the restaurants and locations we personally thought were the best, we left out a critical element, namely Service, and to be more specific the Server who had impressed us the most.
In an industry filled with amazing places to eat and drink, we are constantly looking for that special element that sets any establishment apart from its competitors, and service is often the common denominator that achieves this result. Remember, “Great” service can sometimes save a poor dining experience, but bad service never achieves anything apart from a lost customer.
So, with that in mind our personal recommendation for server of the year would have to be Gerry at Slate, West Sand Lake Road Orlando. Gerry delivers the most professional, unobtrusive, but attentive service and makes you feel truly valued as a customer. He describes the menu, offers great suggestions and knows the preparation and provenance of all the restaurant’s menu options. He delivers all of this information in a relaxed and casual style, like you we having a conversation with a friend. His style should be bottled, it’s not easy to reach this level of perfection but Gerry makes it look so. This is how it should be done. P.S he also makes a “Mean” Margarita!
We checked in at Slate on Saturday for brunch, the Brisket, Eggs Benedict and of course the Lemon Cornmeal Pancakes were amazing as always.
Well Done Gerry!
