The Sausage Shack Altamonte Mall.
There are a good many fantastic local businesses tucked away in strip malls and shopping centers, and one of those businesses and well deserving of the accolade “Great things come in small packages” is The Sausage Shack.
Owner operator Dan Eastwood devised the concept, cooks the sausages and compiles the menu and as all great entrepreneurs, is perpetually looking for new products and sausage combinations to wow his growing number of faithful followers.
Service is simple – 1) Pick your sausage type – 2) Select your bread then 3) Pick your toppings.
Or alternatively try one of their specials and side dishes.
Stand out menu items we tried:
Bangers & Mash – Juicy bangers (British term for sausages) served in a tub with Mash Potato and Rich Onion Gravy. Put this on a plate and it would not be out of place on a gastro pub menu on Park Avenue.
Great accent was the Garlic & Herb Mustard from Dan’s extensive Mustard Bar.
Donut Dog – Smoked Polish Sausage in a fresh baked roll glazed with butter and hand tossed in sugar, topped with a sweet relish and cheese sauce. The Smoked Polish Sausage for us was the stand out winner of our lunch, the delicate smoky flavor goes all the way through this sausage from first bite to last.
ChoriPan – Chorizo Sausage served on Bread of the Day with freshly made Chimichurri. Just the right amount of heat and blended perfectly with the Chimichurri.
Spicy Chicken Andouille – Great spice in this sausage and even better when paired with Jalapeno Mustard from Dan’s Mustard Bar.
A first for us was being able to have beer in a Mall! Dan has a great selection of Imported and Craft Beers that go great with sausages!!!
The great thing about owner operators is that they know their product, talk to Dan and ask him for recommendations or mustard pairings for your sausage selection. Just like wine can enhance a food style the correct mustard can make a world of difference to your sausage choice.
Please go visit Dan at the Sausage Shack, you can find him on the first floor of the Altamonte Mall, Altamonte Springs, he really takes pride in his food and his customers. We wish him well and will be back to sample the “Breakfast Combo” and definitely some more Polish Smoked.
