Blaze Pizza – 501 North Orlando Ave. Winter Park.
Blaze Pizza, the Lebron James backed Pizza chain has recently opened in Winter Park. Located in the expanding Winter Park Shopping Center, formerly known as the K Mart Plaza, just off Lee road. It is the second expansion of the brand in Orlando during recent months, the first being in the phenomenally popular Disney Springs. The chain was named the fastest growing Pizza chain last year and you can see why, their no-nonsense approach to delivering you a Pizza just as you like it, made with fresh ingredients right in front of your eyes, is a format that has worked tremendously well for sandwiches and pasta, so why not Pizza!
The operation is simple, either build your own Pizza or chose one of Blaze’s own signature Pizzas, all made with fresh house made dough. If you chose to build your own you can pick from a vast selection of Sauces, Cheese, Meats, Veggies and finishes all reported as free from artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and all at one price. The pie makers will talk to you during your Pizza creation as you travel down the production line, to ensure you are getting the pie you want. The Pizza is then “Fast fired” in 180 seconds until it is perfectly crisp.
The counter servers seem engaged and more than happy to interact and answer questions and definitely a step up from the usual counter service apathy of some chains.
We chose from the Blaze Signature Collections, our pies were:
Veg Out – Zucchini, mushrooms, red onion, mozzarella, gorgonzola, red sauce dollops. $8.25
Green Stripe – Pesto drizzled over grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, chopped garlic, mozzarella arugula. $8.25
Both Pizzas were fired perfectly, with an excellent thin crust and the toppings blended well, which made for a very flavorful Pizza.
As you know we regularly feature our “Target Twenty” selections where we set ourselves a benchmark of $20 without drinks and before tax to cover a meal for two. Blaze rocks this cost coming in at $16.50.
Blaze also have simple salads, drinks and desserts plus a One Topping Pizza for $6.75 and a Simple Pie for $5.25 (all prices correct at time of publication, check with Blaze for further details).
