Dumplings

El Buda Latin Asian Restaurant Church Street Orlando.

We are often asked when consulting with restaurants, what form should my restaurant menu take? The simple answer we always give is this, either enter the same market as your competitors but do it better or do something fresh and outstanding that will inspire new customers. Well, Roberto Treviño and his new restaurant El Buda certainly opted for the new and outstanding with the fresh and innovative menu at El Buda, creating exciting dishes by fusing Latin and Asian cuisines together in a balanced and sometimes unique approach.

This should come as no surprise, as Chef Roberto Treviño is well known for his appearances on Iron Chef America, he has cooked dinner at the James Beard Foundation house, frequently featured as a guest chef in food events throughout the US and the Caribbean, and a host of other accolades, so his credentials are clear.

The brick lined restaurant is simply beautiful and with a bar facing the theatre kitchen where you can watch the chefs preparing some amazing food, and guess what? Unlike a lot of celebrity chefs Roberto actually cooks in his own kitchen!!! So, watch Chef Roberto wield his magic while you sample some of the amazing cocktails on offer at El Buda, please try the Island Whitewalker, a sort of Coconut Mojito, different and delicious. Plenty of other spaces to choose from with interesting nooks and corners all around the restaurant, makes dining both intimate and vibrant.

But you want to know about the food, most of the dishes are great for sharing so we tried:

Pork & Sweet Plantain Dumplings- Succulent dumpling parcels coated in a soy reduction and topped with Caviar. You know it’s a great dish when you fight over the last dumpling!

Peking Duck Nachos- Shredded Peking Duck toped with pickled ginger and surrounded by toasted wontons. Great presentation and even better taste, the perfectly cooked duck paired well with the spicy pickled ginger.

Tuna Buda Poke- Fresh, clean taste profiles, simply an outstanding example of Poke.

Tuna

Arroz Chaufa- Taking influences from Peruvian & Chinese cuisines this fried rice, vegetable, egg and chicken dish was our favorite and we will definitely order at our next visit.

There are not many descriptions of the food on the El Buda menu, but the super friendly and attentive staff are more than equipped to guide you through your dining experience.

El Buda is undoubtedly one of our favorite dining experiences this year and has elevated the dining scene in downtown Orlando let alone Church Street to a whole other level.
