Mesa 21 Wine & Dine Event

Great Food, Superb Wines, Amazing Company and Atmosphere, all enjoyed with a soft cool breeze drifting across the lake. Where were we? Some Villa on Lake Como? No, a lot nearer home. We were attending the Wine & Dine event out on the patio at Mesa 21 right alongside Lake Ivanhoe, superbly organized by Mesa 21 and Cousino ā€“ Macul Wines.

The six-course pairing menu was introduced by Sandra & Vanessa Rios part of the family owners at Mesa 21, who described Mexican classics from their menu such as Jicama Shrimp and Carne Asada to new menu additions, Paella and an amazing Mexican traditional Flan. Stand out dish for us was the Chicken Mole, with all the usual complex Mole flavors but this one with a hint of blackberry that made the dish pop. The wine elements of the pairing from Cousino-Macul showed off their 150-year old six generation experience with some show stoppers that delighted the guests and were expertly described by Veronica Cousino, one of the 7th generation owners of the winery. Our favorite white was the Sauvignon Gris ā€“ Valle Del Maipo, an unusual variety but had great taste notes. The Lota Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot blend was voted wine of the night and will now feature on the Mesa 21 wine listing.

For us eating out is as much about the company, environment and atmosphere as it is about the food and service, and this experience did not fail on any level. Now we have entered a slightly cooler phase of Fall weather here in Orlando, the patio at Mesa 21 will be our favorite al fresco hang out.

You should make it yours too.
